Preventing box crushing in scentwork while building duration.
After examining several posts on the topic, I suggest an alternative method that focuses on container duration and emphasis to prevent box smashers. This approach not only enhances focus but also prevents box smashing. It can be used with either food or toy rewards and features an audible tone marker. #k9bsd #nosework

    Thanks. It really helped me learn how to use the collar. I bought it to stop my Australian shepherd, mountain curr mix from doing a really high pitch whining when we would leave him alone, and the neighbors complained. to combat whinning should i have the sensitivity set to high?

    I would say first issue, seems like a gloss paint. I imagine a Matte or Eggshell would be better. While this is a way to go, it seems to be more work with the spackling and sanding, etc. I will be getting 4x8 Utility board (its like 1/8 inch think), and just nailing or stapleing that up over paneling and painting.

    @FamilyFirstK9 or anyone else QUESTION : I love the (Advanced Bark Suppression Technology) to control nuisance barking while allowing for protection barking. However, my concern is if I have two dogs wearing them will they work individually so both don’t get corrected? I also love that Contact points are universal, so you can transfer ET-300 points onto the Bark collar. 🐕🐕

    Hi I just bought one but don’t know what setting to use. I have a 45lb lab mix that barks when I leave and it’s more on the high pitch side. What setting should I put it on? The tone only setting did nothing for him. I put it on L5 since he’s medium size and it shocked him and he acted like it hurt so I felt so bad and felt like I picked the wrong setting. Please help! I don’t want to hurt him I just want to correct him when I can’t be home.

    • @FamilyFirstK9
      @FamilyFirstK9 2 месяца назад

      Start low and work up. The counter tells you how many corrections it gives so if at a level 1 he isn’t affected and it gave 60 corrections then go to a 2 or 3. The collar also has an automatic setting that starts low and adjusts to the dogs level of barking.

    So you didn’t actually cover up the wall panel, you used spackle and sanding to smooth it out to look like drywall? My kitchen has hideous paneling that the previous home owner painted with a gross grey chalky type paint. But it has wood groove pattern on it that’s raised. I’m wondering if your method would work.

    Done well. I think the primer first is a good call. In my head i think yhe primer soaks into the lines and also leaves a rough surface for the mud to stick to. I think i would have done a strip of fiber tape down each line. Only because i think undisturbed yours will last but any settling or impact yours might crack. But look. Know you know your way around some plaster so if it does crack you just get that knife out and hit it with a swipe. Good job man

With almost 30 years experience in detection training, handling and certifying professional teams as well as being a judge in multiple organizations I have an insight into detection for sure. We have a saying for those that train with us. Train don’t complain! Too many times people blame a NQ run on others. You might like what you see.

    Well this is great to know. I was looking at the Dogtra 280C and the price shocked me like the first collar 😂 (it's 282 CAD), but it's really nice to see actually those cheaper ones I was looking at side by side with the good ones. I think for now I'll just get my pup a proper HS prong collar (I'm currently using a nylon prong from PetSmart. Not sharp, still totally safe, but the nylon causes it to slip down too much). Maybe when he's older we'll come back to that subject, but right now he's doing great on the prong. PS I found your video through a Google search "are e-collars worth it". First time viewer here.

    • @FamilyFirstK9
      @FamilyFirstK9 8 месяцев назад

      What you are seeing is a team that came down to train. These aren’t my personal dogs and we always go back to foundational systems such as the bsd for the lab and the hare boxes for the dogs such as the shepherd. These allow us to proof off of distractions and build value at odor thus making the dog more obedient to odor and focusing less on us. The reason we hold these training weekends are to help clean up handler teams each year before they recert . A prime example if you go back to your weekly foundational practices to keep the dog clean would look like this. ruclips.net/user/shortst4BDlaI_YPA?si=xLsQuOg8MYqXP8wu. As you can see odor is all that matters

    • @FamilyFirstK9
      @FamilyFirstK9 8 месяцев назад

      @@Courts_Motivationthere are several dogs in that video. The shepherd with the sheriffs department if we filmed it literally keeps punching it’s head into the open locker touching the odor because he understands that everything happens at source. The other dogs were in for a training weekend. Some were more handler dependent than others. The goal is to have them functioning at a level we want.
